Hi, how can we help?

Below are some of the most popular questions for folks wanting to attend or be involved with Grounded Nebraska. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, reach out to [email protected].

Course & Race Structure

What kind of bike should I ride?

The event is possible on a variety of bicycles including mountain, fat bike, gravel, e-bike, and tandem. Gravel in the area is mostly fine, but is known to get chunky or muddy depending on weather. Most roads are navigateable on 28mm tires, but we recommend something larger to help make sure you stay upright and comfortable no matter what the roads throw at you.

Will the course be marked?

No. There will be cue sheets and maps available at registration and RideWithGPS routes are available to use on your phone or headunit.

We recommend riding with a group if you’re uncomfortable doing the navigation yourself, printing out the directions, or using a GPS device.

Does Grounded Nebraska have aid stations?

YES! While racing and route are serious, we want to ensure all riders are healthy and fueled on course. Grounded Nebraska will have stocked aid stations every 25-30 miles.

Is Grounded Nebraska timed?

Yes. It is a race, with some drool-worthy payouts. Each participant will be timed, and you can choose whether you want to race or ride.

Are there cutoff times?

Yes. There will be cutoff times for both distances for safety purposes. These will be provided when registering.

Is the race supported?

No, it is not. No outside support is allowed. We have fully stocked aid stations every 25-30 miles and there are a few small towns with options as well.

Can I have a drop bag for the aid station?

Yes.

Riders can have drop bags at the aid station. Please drop them at registration in the labeled tote.

Drop bags must be in the tote by 8:00 am Saturday morning. The bags will be at the finish after the last rider is through the aid station and they’ve torn down (approx. 4:30/5:00 pm).

Camping

What type of camping is there?

We are offering camping overnight on Friday and Saturday for tents, truck campers, travel trailers under 20 feet, or pop-ups, but we do not have space for trailers over 20 feet, RVs, motorhomes, or fifth-wheel trailers.

Reservations for campsites are available up until the day of, depending on availability.

There are no hookups available, and our host venue prefers tent camping.

If you’d like to bring your motorhome, RV, or fifth-wheel trailer, we recommend a nearby recreation area.

When can I checkin/checkout?

All camping spots are first come first serve and campers can set up starting at 2:00 PM on Friday. All campers must be cleaned up and off the property by 11:00 AM on Sunday morning.

Is there camping gear available for rent?

Grounded Nebraska doesn’t have a gear rental service. If you need gear, we recommend looking into the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s and University of Nebraska-Omaha’s Outdoor Program.

Will there be breakfast or pre-race food provided?

Yes. There will be light grab & go snacks and coffee available. There will also be food at the aid stations.

Are showers available?

Yes. There will be showers available during select times on Saturday.

Make sure you bring a towel!
